This skateboard facility is located in Silvercreek Park. It’s total area of 14,800 sq ft (1,375 m2) features a variety of elements to challenge novice through expert riders. It combines the best of transition/bowl features with banks, rails, stairs and ledges that riders crave in the streets. The skatepark’s location within a park setting allows for great sightlines and includes 4 fabric shade structures. To provide contrast, the flat floor areas are cast using integrally pigmented concrete, and black paint is applied to the quarter pipe copings. Construction of this park entailed sub-excavation of existing soft soils and engineered upfilling. The site is situated between a woodlot and driveway, creating challenges for construction staging. The project is finished with bioswales, decorative armourstone, plantings and signage.
