North Maple Regional Park

Vaughan, Ontario

Completed for Canada Day, July 2019, this major recreational sports park encompasses 12.5 ha and includes 2 FIFA certified soccer fields and an architecturally iconic washroom complex. This includes 2 buildings (5,100 sq ft) clad with corten steel and joined by a 1,500 sq ft steel shade canopy. An outdoor plaza is comprised of intergrally coloured concrete paving with sandblast finish as well as unit paving, with seating areas shaded by fabric canopies. The soccer fields were installed with poured in place e-layer shock pads and turf with coloured EPDM infill. Bleacher seating, players benches and scorer’s tables on CIP concrete paving are sheltered with custom shade structures. Sportsfield lighting, scoreboards and 5.4m high backstop fences surround. Landscape works include custom corten steel features, lit wayfinding signage, furnishings, armourstone walls, irrigation, extensive plantings, seed and sodded mounds and concrete paved pathways with lighting. Site works included major servicing with street connections (sanitary, storm, watermain & electrical), 125,000 m3 of earth grading and a 750 m long paved access road with parking for 200 cars.
